Transport facilities

The local suburban railway network along the Western and Central corridors together with the 'BEST' buses provide commuters with an efficient transportation network in Mumbai. Mumbai's yellow and black taxis are a convenient way to travel around the city.

The Western and Central railways provide commuters with an efficient rail network in the state. Trains connect all major centres within the state and within the country.

MSRTC links all places in the state by road with their efficient transport fleet. MSRTC also provides luxury coaches for inter-city travel and to places of tourist importance. MTDC provide luxuary coach sevices to the tourist destinations and for conducted tours. Chauffeur driven cars are available for hire in all centres. Auto-rickshaws allow for easy travel within the cities.

MTDC offers a four hour conducted tour of the important tourist attractions in Pune. Tickets can be booked at the MTDC offices or the counter at the railway station. Tours leave daily at 8.00 am and 3.00 pm.

Organised tours conducted regularly from Aurangabad to the Ajanta/Ellora Caves. The tour to Ellora includes the Grishneshwar Temple, Daulatabad Fort, Aurangzeb's Tomb at Khuldabad, and the Panchakki and Bibi ka Maqbara in Aurangabad.

Tourist Information Centers

There are Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) offices at most important tourist centres and cities in Maharashtra as well as other parts of India. Government of India Tourist Offices are also widely present in the state.

The tourist office is open Monday through Friday from 8.30 am to 6 pm, and on Saturday from 8.30 am to 2 pm. It brings out a free brochure on Mumbai and guide covering Mumbai's major entertainment events every two weeks. It has a counter at the International airport and a counter at the domestic airport.

MTDC also has counters near the Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and the airports.

Aurangabad

The Government of India tourist Office is situated on Station Road (West) in Aurangabad city. The MTDC office in the MTDC Holiday Resort, Station Road (East) and there are information counters at the railway station and airport.

Pune

MTDC Tourist Office is located at Central Building, "I" Block, Pune 400 001. And there are information counters at Railway Station, Lohagoan Airport, and Saras Hotel.

Nashik

The MTDC tourist office at Nashik is at T-1, Golf Club on the Old Agra Road.

Kolhapur

The MTDC tourist office is a five minute walk from the station, on Station Road, and is open from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 8.30 am to noon and 4 to 6 pm on weekends.
